Efficient use of data is vital in modern workplaces to ensure that measures yield quantifiable results. This mainly helps companies analyze significant KPIs, create goals and monitor progress. To help people make better decisions, Microsoft announced the release of Microsoft Power BI Goals (a series of tools that enables clients to use AI capabilities in Power BI) in its 2021 virtual Business Applications Summit.

Business intelligence (BI) and performance management (PM) efforts allow companies to harmonize their businesses with compatible and informative systems of measurement and decision-making. Performance management software adoption in the past has been restricted for the reason of not being user-friendly and been pricey. However, the introduction of the new Power BI Goals facility has altered the complete scenario. The new Power BI is a tool designed by Microsoft to generate and disseminate data visualization and communication in general business intelligence. The application is freely accessible as a web service but is usually purchased from the Productivity Suite of Office 365.

What’s unique about Microsoft Power BI goals?

To maintain the targets and to eliminate the intrusion of human input into a disconnected system, Power Business Intelligence Goals makes use of everything in Power BI, including its vast array of data connectors, which enables it to be connected to essential business systems like CRM, ERP, and sales quota tracking platforms.

Note- Goals are now only available in the browser, so you’ll need a computer, laptop, or tablet to use it. However, a mobile version optimized for phone displays will be available shortly.

Power Business Intelligence features

Scorecards
Power BI Goals allow users to create unique scorecards that assign tasks and assess progress towards specified objectives. Managers may utilize these scorecards for improvement, cooperate on platforms such as Microsoft teams and take proactive action on check-in notes.

Power Business Intelligence scorecard unites all the various targets and sub-goal teams. Users can designate owners to a goal, and goals can enable stakeholders to know whether or not something is on its way. Scorecards support data and notes to keep teams updated proactively. They also include a report that provides in-depth target status, inspections, and messages.

Transformation to self-service category
Goals in Power BI targets employ existing Power Automation capabilities based on a non-coding framework and more than 300 integrated interfaces with external data sources for that purpose.

To achieve this level of integration, earlier companies were required to write custom code either by themselves or by taking help from IT Service Company. End-users may now self-serve their own automation needs without requiring any further support, while IT personnel can still monitor such activities.

Integrations with Microsoft teams
Goals allow teams to consult and aggregate business measurements that matter most readily. From here, teams can assess progress against their objectives, proactively communicate updates and go deeper into data when more research is needed. Users may monitor their company’s health, generate data across several workstations of Power BI and develop wonderful scorecards to make a difference.

Future plans
Microsoft aims to make Microsoft Power BI goals available on mobile devices and include automatic status rules, as well as “rollups” that establish how sub-goals relate to their parent goals. In addition, Power BI Goals will acquire Power BI Desktop formatting and scorecard image along with Power Automate connection to initiate business flows in the event of changes in goals and hierarchies based on Power Business Intelligence data models.
